LAST MEETING (May 19th)

Kenton Swartley, Cedar Falls High School Physics Teacher, spoke to the club about the National Robotics Competition. Cedar Falls High School started their Robotics Club in 2000. Since that time, they have been to the National Competition 4 times, most recently in Atlanta. When they first went to competition in 2000, there were typically 250 – 300 teams competing. This year, there were over 2,000 teams in competition. The Club is made up of approximately 25 students from 9th through 12th grades. The club has received a fantastic amount of support from local businesses, including John Deere, UNI and Distek Integration in the Cedar Falls Industrial Park. Distek, up through this year, has provided a large space to test and operate the robots before competition. Kenton played videos of competitions that took place in St. Louis and Minneapolis. In St. Louis, the Cedar Falls team finished 7-1-1 and in Minneapolis, they were undefeated.
