The Cedar Falls Lions Club's bicycle-built-for-10 was awarded the Cedar Falls Utilities Award for the most novel entry in the 1999 Sturgis Falls parade.  The bicycle was made by Lion Cliff Satre out of  discarded bicycle parts.  Cliff organized the entry and lined up the riders (both figuratively and literally) for the parade.  For all of his good work and initiative, Cliff was declared the permanent keeper of the trophy and deserves a big Lions thanks!

The riders were Anne Hennessey, Dave Hakes, Jim Taylor, Don Wood, Lori Buzynski, Barry Haskins, John Page, Pam Miller, Clair Brooks and Ron King.  Banner carriers were Darrel Wilken and Fred Abraham.

Lions Darrel Wilken and Fred Abraham proudly carry the Lions Club Banner.  It was the only thing we could trust them with, although they did almost get lost a couple of times.

The riders take a breather as they refill their squirt guns.  These were necessary for self defense along the parade route and also kept the riders cool.

Leader Anne Hennessey leads her faithful column in a tricky maneuver around the traffic island. Do you think they'll make it?  Notice the intense concentration of rider #7, John Page.
