PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (November 5th)

Fellow Lions, I know that I join you in wishing Lion Page all the best in his move to Florida.  I will start planning the bus trip soon! John has served us well as First Vice President and as President of our Club. I hope that I can do as well, and with help from YOU, Past President Boals, 1st VP Dan Conrad and our Board, we should have a great year.  Please remember when you are going through your day to talk to your friends and business acquaintances about joining Lions. We have a great Club that serves Cedar Falls well and we have a pretty good time doing that.  So pass the word!  For our Club to stay strong we will always need new members.

DID YOU KNOW

▪ Why is Election Day on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November?  In 1845 an act was passed setting the current day.  Originally, the day was set to prevent elections from occurring on the first day of November which was a busy day for merchants.  Mondays were not chosen because of the long distances some voters had to travel.  Travel on Sunday, a day of rest, was discouraged.
