Fellow

rid of the Ground Hog forever! As we are
looking out our window at all of the snow, lets get going on selling our

LAST MEETING (February 4th)
John Schofield
spoke to the club about his new business, “Elements Massage” which is located
at the SW corner of Hudson Road
and 1st Street
in Cedar Falls.
A graduate of UNI and Palmer in Davenport, John also
owns and operates Schofield Chiropractic Clinic at 1004 Main Street.
Elements has been open since December 11, 2007 and is unique in that
it only offers Massage Therapy. Most similar business are connected with hair
or tanning salons. The Cedar Falls
location is the first Elements in Iowa. Currently open seven
days a week, there are six therapists on staff with plans for a total of 15 in
the future From the “Elements Massage” website: First time massage - What to know.
You will be introduced to your professional male or female therapist and they
will guide you to your private, warm and quiet massage
room. You and your therapist will discuss the desired
outcome of your session to determine which areas of your body require the most
attention. In your Therapeutic Massage room, soft, soothing music will be
played to help you relax and the therapist will leave you to undress to your
own level of comfort. You will then lie on the massage table, face up, and
cover yourself with the clean blankets provided. You will remain properly
draped during the entire session to keep you warm and comfortable. Often, a
light lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing
excessive friction to the skin. In a general Swedish Massage, your session may begin with broad,
flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax muscle
tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased. It
is important to communicate with your therapist if you feel any discomfort so
that another approach may be taken. Therapeutic Massage is most effective when your
body is not resisting. When your massage is complete your therapist will leave
the room to allow for you to re-dress. Your therapist will then provide you
with water and ask if you have any questions or concerns about your massage or
future massages. After your massage you will feel relaxed and you may feel
relief from long-term aches and pains. For the first 24 hours after a deep
tissue massage, you may feel a little sore or achy. This is a normal response
due to toxins releasing from your soft tissue, it is highly recommended that
you drink plenty of water following any massage. After that time, you will feel
increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity. According
to the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), advantages of massage
include: reduces tension & aids in relaxation, promotes deeper and easier
breathing, strengthens immune system, relaxes muscles, helps relieve spasm,
pain & swelling, improves circulation, enhances the mind-body connection,
increases flexibility in joints, reduces mental & physical fatigue,
provides an effective way to combat stress. A
weekly massage may seem an indulgence, but new research suggests it can have
major health benefit.
IT'S GREAT TO BE A
LION!
