Fellow Lions, I want to thank everyone for giving such a great effort on our Spring Pancake Day.  I think everyone had a good time and it was nice to see such a great turnout of members.  We are trying to contact the Waterloo Lions Club for next weeks Inter-club, so watch your email for a location update.

LAST MEETING (March 24th)

 

Christine Ohls, Outreach representative at Cedar Valley Hospice spoke to the club about various services that Hospice offers. Currently, there are 130 employees at the not-for-profit organization. Annually, they serve over 1000 patients and are closely affiliated with area churches, care centers and assisted living facilities. Cedar Valley Hospice (CVH) is the area’s leader in end-of-life care and has been serving our community since 1979. CVH provides physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support for terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice services are available to people of all ages who are suffering from any life-limiting illness. Cedar Valley Hospice serves Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Grundy, parts of Fayette, Tama, and surrounding counties with these programs of service: Hospice Services - Patients are able to stay in the comfort of their own homes, with pain under control and surrounded by loved ones. Emphasis is placed on maintaining quality of life and personal dignity while supporting the entire family before, during, and after the death of the loved one. Grief Support Services - Cedar Valley Hospice Grief Support Services provide comprehensive counseling, support services and educational leadership on dying, death and grief to the community. The Eucalyptus Tree - The Eucalyptus Tree exists to provide support and care for children and families experiencing life-threatening illness or grieving a death. CASS - Cedar AIDS Support System - The Cedar AIDS Support System provides medical case management and care from diagnosis through bereavement for persons living with HIV/AIDS, their significant others, families and friends. LINK Palliative Care Program - LINK is a palliative care program that has been developed to provide supportive end-of-life care to those individuals and families not enrolled on the Hospice program.
