PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (May 5th)

Fellow Lions, next week May 12th we will invite four new members into our club.  This is great for our club!  Most of us in Lions Club today were asked by a member to join.  So it is our duty as members, to ask a friend or associate who wants to serve our community, to become a member of Lions.  Good luck on your recruiting!

LAST MEETING (April 28th)

Troy Becker, Cedar Falls High School Men’s Cross Country and Women’s Track & Field Coach spoke to the Club about the Cedar Falls program. Troy expressed deep gratitude being able to work with such fine student-athletes that Cedar Falls has. The participants have had a great work ethic which makes them very easy to coach. Typically, the Men’s team will field approximately 50 athletes and girls will have 60-70 athletes annually. This past season was a very good year, with two victories at the Drake Relays and placement in six relay events. Troy indicated that the 2007-2008 women’s team is the best he has coached since he has been with Cedar Falls and that he is hopeful for a top 3 finish at the State Tournament this year. As with all sports, individual achievements provide pleasant surprises during opportune times and that luck can play a large role in the resulting standings. Troy invited the Lions Club to come to the 2008 District meet that will take place at Cedar Falls High School on May 9th.
