LAST MEETING (July 9th)

Mary Sue Bartlett with the College Hill Arts Festival spoke to the club regarding their upcoming event. Mary Sue has been a co-chair of the event for the past four years alongside Vern Griffith. She has also served on the Sturgis Falls parade committee for the past eight years. This years event will be held Friday and Saturday, July 20th and 21st and will take place on the UNI Campus at the SW corner of College and 23rd Streets. Mary Sue’s primary job with the College Hill Arts Festival is to make contacts with interested artists and coordinate the annual brochure prepared for the event. She visits art shows around the Midwest and invites artists to apply for openings in the Festival. Typically, more than 300 artists apply each year and it is the responsibility of the selection jurors to review their applications and four slides of their work and then provide scoring. The top 75 artists will then be invited to participate. This year there will be 25 artists that have either not exhibited in the past or who have not been here for a year or two. As always, there will be entertainment, food and beverages for all ages. If you are interested in more information, please point your web browser to: http://www.chaf.cfu.net/
