 writing skills

Students accepted into the CBA  must demonstrate competence in academic writing. You can expect them to use clearly written sentences, coherent paragraph structure, and correct grammar in all coursework.

Students will not know the basics of business formats without instruction, but should be expected to learn and use typical business documents to fulfill course requirements.

 presentation skills

Students have generally completed one public speaking course when admitted to the CBA.  You can expect them to confidently present a short, outlined speech with an introduction and conclusion.

Students have not generally had instruction in presentation software, group presentations, or informal discussion leadership, but should develop these skills in CBA courses.

 team and interpersonal skill

Most students admitted to the CBA have had only one basic course in oral communication.  You can expect students to show a wide range of practical skill and little explicit knowledge of team methods.

Any team assignments should include instruction in such basic skills as meeting management, diverse communication styles, and conflict prevention.
