UNIBusiness Welcomes Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics Faculty
Four Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics (PRAE) faculty will be visiting the University of Northern Iowa September 28 through October 1. The attendees include Dr. Olga Saginova, Dr. Dmitry Shtykhno, Dr. Irina Skorobogatykh, and Olga Grishina, C.E.S.
This visit is supported through a FIPSE-Russia grant for the purpose of expanding relationships between Russian and US educational institutions and providing high level language training in Russian and English to the students of the respective institutions.
Dr. Olga Saginova is the Dean of Plekhanov Graduate School and Professor of Advertising. Dr. Saginova has prior experience teaching in both Germany and the U.S. She has participated in numerous international projects, conferences, and organizations including a Franco-German University Project to develop a Tri-national Master’s Programme. She has ten recent publications.
Dr. Dmitry Shtykhno, Deputy Dean of Plekhanov Graduate School and Professor of Management , is a lecturer of management, computer technologies, bookkeeping and managerial accounting, economics and management in hospitality and tourism. Dr. Shtykhno is an experienced coordinator of methodology and study process in international B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs. He has 32 publications in Russia and abroad on hospitality management, marketing, and business planning.
Dr. Irina Skorobogatykh is an Professor of Marketing at PRAE. She is also editor in-chief of the Marketing and Marketing Research journal at Grebennikov Publishing House. Dr. Skorobogatykh has published more than 50 different publications including textbooks on marketing and marketing research, monographers, research project reports, and articles in major specialized marketing journals. Dr. Skorobogatykh previously visited UNI in the spring of 2007 with a small group of PRAE students.
Olga Grishina, C.E.S., Dean of Distance Learning of PRAE and Professor of Stock Exchange Activity and Capital Markets, has participated in numerous international conferences and projects including the EDEN Annual Conferences. She has nine recent publications and specializes in financial market regulation and state ownership management research.
UNIBusiness currently has a bi-lateral seminar with Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics in Moscow. Students from PRAE are selected to write a research paper on a particular economic topic and present their work during a two-week visit to UNI in March. In turn, UNI selects students from its directed research class to present their papers on an economic topic in Moscow in May.
CBA hopes to extend its relationship with Plekhanov in the form of an exchange so that UNI students can study at Plekhanov within their International Business School where all classes are taught in English. Classes taken at Plekhanov would transfer back to UNI and be used to help fulfill the students’ major requirements. In addition, all international students at Plekhanov are required to take a Russian language class, giving the student an opportunity to learn a second language through both study and immersion.
