UNI Accounting Club hosts seven CPA firms
On Thursday, October 8, the UNI Accounting Club hosted a Non Big-4 Public Accounting Firm Forum for its membership. The Forum was held in the student lounge of the Curris Business Building in a mini-career fair type setting. Nearly ninety Accounting Club members and twenty-five firm representatives, many of whom are UNI accounting alumni, participated in the event. Firms from both Iowa and Minnesota attended the event, and included Baker Tilly, Bergan Paulsen, Clifton Gunderson, Eide Bailly, LarsonAllen, TD&T Financial Group, and Roth & Company. Students learned about the job expectations and career paths in regional and local firms. Firms discussed the types of job openings and student summer leadership programs available for students. Following the event, students enjoyed dinner and networking.
The UNI Accounting Club provides its members with career information, contact with potential employers and recruiters, and social interaction with other Accounting majors. Activities include on-campus meetings approximately once each month and off-campus field trips in the Fall and Spring.
Students may become members at any time during their academic career, but certainly should be members during their Junior, Senior, and 5th years. Sophomores are encouraged to join and participate. Notices of meetings are posted throughout the Curris Business Building, on the club's website and announced through email.
