Professional Accomplishments
Darlene Coarts brings her prior experience as a practicing accountant to the classroom to provide students with real-life perspectives and situations. As an accountant at Hawkeye Metal Spinning, Darlene performed product cost computations and analysis in a custom, job-order environment. She maintained and operated computerized accounting system and related spreadsheet software as well as prepared and provided daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and additional information to support problem solving and decision making needs of management. Darlene also held an accountant position at William J. Coarts, CPA, Accounting and Business Services in Maryland where she assisted in providing accounting and business services to a variety of clients including preparation of federal and state income tax returns, quarterly payroll filings, sales tax filings and other business needs. She has also held a position as an instructor at the University of Maryland.
