Professional Accomplishments
Dennis Schmidt first came to UNI in 1993. He left in 2005 to teach at Montana State University and returned to UNI in 2008. Prior to his first arrival at UNI, he taught at the University of Wyoming for seven years and was a visiting professor for a year at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Dennis teaches a variety of tax and systems courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. He is the recipient of four teaching awards and ten educational development grants. Over the years, Dennis has actively participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program serving as a trainer, program coordinator, and faculty advisor.

Dennis is an active researcher with more than 35 published journal articles and 25 conference papers or presentations. He has won two research awards and has received eight research grants. His research has been published in a variety of academic and professional journals, including Journal of the American Taxation Association, Advances in Taxation, Journal of Legal Tax Research, The Tax Adviser, Practical Tax Strategies, Journal of Accountancy, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, and several others.
