Responsibilities
Don Chaplain is Senior Program Manager for the Institute for Decision Making in the Business and Community Services Division at The University of Northern Iowa. He has been with IDM since 1992. His responsibilities include the design, delivery, and follow-up of community-level services including consulting with strategic and short-term planning, conducting community assessments and target industry analysis, and assisting community development organizations in the development and implementation of marketing plans.
Professional Accomplishments
Before joining the University, Chaplain was the Executive Director of the Charles City, Iowa Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce where his areas of accomplishment included business and industry recruitment, industry retention/expansion, community marketing, and financial packaging. Chaplain is active in local, state, and national community and economic development organizations. He is past president of the Professional Developers of Iowa, is a current member of the Iowa Small Business Development Center's Advisory Council, and a CEcD Examiner for the International Economic Development Council.
