David W. Wilson Chair is the university's first-ever joint endowed chair, bringing together the colleges of Business Administration and Humanities and Fine Arts. It was established through a $1 million gift from university alumnus and Laguna, California resident, David W. Wilson, president and owner of one of the largest privately owned automotive groups in the country. Wilson graduated from UNI in 1970 with a B.A. in Philosophy. His gift makes ethics a focus of teaching and research and help students gain a perspective on ethics as a guide to decision-making in life and business.
Donna J. Wood, a leading scholar in business and society, was named the first holder of the David W. Wilson Chair of Business Ethics at University of Northern Iowa. She began her career tenure at UNI iin fall 2002. She is a gifted scholar who was instrumental in bringing recognition and respect to the study of business ethics, and she has built an international reputation in her discipline. With 11 books and more than 50 scholarly articles, Donna has also played a key role in the study of business ethics.
