Value of ethics evident in one generous gift

David W. Wilson Chair in Business Ethics

Created with a $1 million gift from UNI alumnus David W. Wilson, the Chair in Business Ethics was designed to make ethics a focus of teaching and research interest in both the College of Business Administration and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Donna J. Wood,

an internationally-recognized scholar in business and society, is the first holder of the David W. Wilson Chair. Professor Wood joined UNI in 2003 with a joint appointment in Management and Philosophy.

Professor Wood brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. She was a professor of business administration for 22 years at the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. She is the president of the Society for Business Ethics, past president of the Social Issues in Management division of the Academy of Management, and founder and past president of the International Associate for Business and Society. Wood, who holds a doctorate from Vanderbilt University, has served as a visiting professor at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, the Science Research Center in Berlin, and the University of Michigan.

"This Chair gives the university an international presence in the field." Dean Farzad Moussavi, College of Business Administration"
Dr. Wood's work is guided by the chair's three goals: fostering discussion and debate about ethical practices in business, educating students and community members about the social and ethical issues facing global business, and developing state of the art research and theory in business ethics. In addition to Dr. Wood, faculty members from the CBA and CHFA tackle ethical issues as part of their research and teaching.
