PRINCIPLES OF TOURISM IN ITALY

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Where: Central & Northern Italy
When: May 10/11 through May 25/26, 2010 (2 weeks)
Course: 430:070 Principles of Tourism (3 credits) Study tourism in a country that is currently ranked number 7 on the list of the world leaders in travel and tourism. Visit cultural and heritage attractions, and meet with those employed in the tourism sector to understand real life application of the main tourism concepts. Focus on cultural and heritage tourism.

STUDY ABROAD INFORMATION MEETING
There will be an information meeting for three short-term study abroad opportunities at Gilchrist. Session will begin at 5 p.m. on November 9. The session will cover information three capstones offered from the CBA: Ghana, Nicaragua, and China. Contact the study abroad office or Chris Schrage for more information.
HAVE YOU BEEN ADMITTED TO THE CBA?
If you have NOT been admitted please read the following information.
Have you completed and received grades for all course work required for admission to the CBA? If the answer is yes, please go to CBB 321B and complete the paper work so you can formally be admitted to the College of Business Administration NOW.
Admission to the CBA requires:
- 30 semester hours of credit;
- a C- or better in the following:
>920:053 Principles of Macro Economics,
>920:070 Business Statistics or 920:020 Intro. to Dec. Tech,
>an approved English composition course(620:005, 620:015, or 620:034);
- a 2.50 total cumulative GPA.
However, if you have not yet met the CBA admission requirements but:
1. will be completing the admission requirements by the end of the current semester;
2. will have 60 or more semester hours of credit by the end of the
current semester; and
3. need to register for 100-level CBA courses for next semester such as
150:153, Organizational Management,
150:100, Legal and Social Environment of Business,
130:101, Principles of Marketing etc.,
then, you will need to SIGN A CBA ADMISSION CONTRACT to prepare your records for spring registration. Registration begins November 10. If you do NOT sign a contract, the computer will NOT let you register for 100-level CBA courses. Contracts must be completed by November 10. A CBA professional advisor in CBB 321B will help you. Please call 273-2144 and make an appointment NOW to see an advisor. Registration for 100-level CBA courses requires admission to the CBA and junior standing.
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION SEMINAR

Supply Chain Management Association would like to invite all students to attend the annual supply chain seminar. Speakers at the event will include three recent graduates of UNI from Target Distribution Center speaking on Leadership Development. The Southwest Regional Manager of Phoenix International will be discussing Career Paths in Logistics, Skills to Possess, and Moving up the Ladder. There will also be two recent graduates of UNI from John Deere and Company discussing the new-entry Rotational Program, and their Transition from School to Work.
Food and beverages will be provided!

WIN $5,000 THROUGH BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION
$5000 Business Plan Competition deadline for entry is December 1, 2009. An "Intent to Compete" is due to the UNI John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center in BCS 128 by 5 p.m., December 1. The form can be found on the website at http://www.jpec.org/newven.htm or in BCS 128. Business plans will be submitted to the judges on January 28, 2010. UNI CBA INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS ESSAY CONTEST
Eligibility: All UNI CBA undergraduates are eligible.
Prizes: Awards of at least $600, $300, and $100 will be given as first, second, and third prices, respectively. In order to receive their awards, winners should attend the Jepson Symposium on the UNI campus in February if all possible.
Topic: Any area of international economics, including trade, finance, immigration, and development.
Paper Format: Papers must be 5 to 15 pages, double-spaced, use a 12-point font and have one-inch margins. The reference list is excluded from the page count.
Submission: All papers must be submitted electronically as an MSWord document attached to an email sent to Professor Ken Brown at Ken.Brown@uni.edu
Deadline for submission: January 25, 2010
Papers originally written as part of a class requirement are eligible.
