Communities are strengthened through the leadership, planning, and services provided by city agencies and local businesses. The UNI programs connect cities, businesses, and citizens to enhance the quality of community life.

Institute for Decision Making
The Institute for Decision Making (IDM) can guide organizations and community-based groups, helping ease their way, as they make decisions and take organized action toward economic-and-community-development. The IDM staff typically serves and advises economic development corporations, chambers of commerce, convention and visitor bureaus, community planning groups, non-profit organizations and similar groups and organizations.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
The VITA program allows UNI accounting students in their senior year or in graduate-level studies to provide low income U.S. citizens free, state and federal income tax assistance. Information about the VITA program can be gained through the Department of Accounting at 319-273-2394.

New Iowans Program
The New Iowans Program works with communities and businesses to help immigrants transition into their new homes, and in the process increase the vitality and economic success of the community.
