‘Darn Good Creative!’... is the battle cry of Darning Pixels of Waterloo, Iowa. It is a motto championed by the company’s president, Andrew Van Fleet, and an attitude that permeates the accomplished graphics firm. However, the growth and recognition Van Fleet and his team have engineered has required tireless effort and the support of others.

Since beginning as one of the first tenants in the UNI Regional Business Center, Darning Pixels has added several employees and a downtown Waterloo storefront location. Van Fleet credits the counseling and guidance he received from the RBC/SBDC for helping him to be strategic at the birth stage of his business. The office space and services he received over the first two years allowed him to minimize expenses and network with other entrepreneurs.

More recently, the RBC/SBDC provided direction when Van Fleet was ready to expand his business and needed to hire a new employee, by providing budgetary tools that he continues to use for hiring new employees today. Van Fleet recommends new businesses take advantage of the UNI RBC and the incubator program. The low cost helps free up cash to put into business, and the great convenience of counseling and a networking office environment provide businesses with the tools they need for success.
