An internship or cooperative education experience is becoming more
and more important to career development. Many companies are
choosing to hire entry level employees solely through their own internship
programs. Others are choosing to hire only those students who
have demonstrated the ability to apply their education on the job through an internship.
During job interviews, recruiters are particularly interested in hearing
about students' intern and work experiences.
The UNI Career Centers Cooperative
Education/Internship Program is designed to complement
formal education with practical work experiences that relate to your
major. Co-ops/Internships are important ways to build your resume,
network with contacts through co-ops jobs or internships, and learn
more about career opportunities. Other benefits include pay, academic
credit and the increased confidence and maturity that come from meeting
the challenges of on-the-job experiences.
As the liaison for the UNI Career Center Cooperative Education/Internship Program, I am eager to help you in your efforts to find an internship. Stop by Student Advising and Career Services, CBB 321B, or contact me by calling (319) 273-3821 or e-mail laura.wilson@uni.edu.
