Financial Aid, Scholarships, & Grants

International experience will help prepare you to be more productive in the highly competitive global economy. To maximize international opportunities offered through UNI and through our college, we encourage you to check out resources that can help you apply your federal and state financial aid eligibility toward a study abroad adventure at the same cost as a semester at UNI.

The UNI Financial Aid Office, the Study Abroad Center and the College of Business Administration work together to help you address the cost of programs 1) sponsored by an accredited U.S. or foreign university and 2) that provide satisfactory progress toward your degree. Grants and scholarships specific to UNIBusiness

Bill Kimball Fund for International Development supports international internships and opportunities for international development, including a 12-month program in the Dalian Free Trade Zone in Dalian, China and an international business seminar for graduate students offered by the Institut Supérieur du Commerce, in Paris. CBA majors (including pre-Business) are eligible, with priority given to participants in study abroad activities in China, international internships in any location, and graduate studies in Europe.

  • Bill Kimball is the retired president of Medicap Pharmacies, Inc., and a past member of the CBA Executive Advisory Board. His many contributions have helped ensure that UNIBusiness programs will thrive well into the future. The Kimball Fund for International Development is part of the Bill Kimball Endowment for International Relations, which promotes interaction among domestic and international students and helps ensure their productivity in the global business community. Bill and his wife, Charlotte, live in Johnston, Iowa. Their son and daughter both attended UNI.

Michael and Jacqueline Mrosko Endowed CBA International Travel Scholarship provides financial assistance to students in the College of Business Administration who are participating in international study or internships abroad to enhance their business education. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and have an outstanding record of extracurricular achievement which emphasizes honor, service and/or campus ministry activities.

  • Mike and Jacqueline Mrosko are UNI alumni who have a strong appreciation for the career advantages they realized as a result of scholarship opportunities in their undergraduate experience. They are expressing that appreciation by providing students exceptional opportunities through their UNIBusiness International Travel Scholarship, a UNIBusiness accounting scholarship and a scholarship in the College of Education. The Mrosko Endowed CBA International Travel Scholarship resulted from Mike’s undergraduate study abroad in London. Said Mike, “It was an eye-opening experience, and one that helped me secure my first job in international business.” The first Mrosko International Scholarship recipient will be attending the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. Mike, Jacqueline and their two children live in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Lawrence Jepson International Business and Economics Student Study Abroad Grants support business and economics students who wish to gain an international educational experience and prepare for a complex and ever-changing world through appreciation of diverse cultural backgrounds and global interdependence. To be eligible, students must be accepted into the CBA or be an approved Economics major, and carry a GPA of 3.0 or above.

  • Lawrence Jepson was a native of Denmark who immigrated to Iowa in the early 1900s. He was blacksmith’s apprentice prior to his undergraduate experience at UNI. His remarkable life and career led him to Wall Street, where he established himself in the 1970s as a businessman who foresaw the importance of global relationships. Generations of students have benefitted from the endowment, established upon his passing in 1982, to support student scholarships and other UNIBusiness activities in the area of international economics.
