James Hanlon

Each year, University College Cork in Ireland welcomes more than 2,000 international students from 93 countries around the world, making it one of Ireland's most international universities. During spring semester 2008, James Hanlon (Accounting '11) was one of those students.

"Studying abroad enhanced my ability to learn from and adapt to another culture," said Hanlon, an Eagan, Minnesota, native. "Interacting with people from various backgrounds helps improve your listening skills and opens you to new ideas and ways of thinking."

UNIBusiness has numerous study abroad partnerships with colleges around the world. As Hanlon learned, this life-changing experience provides an international perspective that's so critical in today's workforce.

"Ireland has a much more relaxed and carefree attitude toward work compared to the Midwestern view," he said. "This is not to say the Irish don't work hard. They just seem to keep their stress level lower."
