Retention Policy

In addition to complying with the University's Academic Warning, Probation, and Suspension policy, College of Business Administration majors must maintain a 2.20 cumulative UNI GPA and a 2.20 cumulative GPA in all CBA courses taken at UNI to remain a declared major in good standing. Students not meeting these standards will be subject to the following:

Warning: Any student with a cumulative UNI GPA, or a cumulative UNI CBA GPA, 1-5 grade points deficient of the total necessary for a 2.20 index, will receive written notification of their deficiency. Such students should consult with their academic advisor, or an advisor in the CBA Student Advising and Career Services Office (CBB 321B) before the start of the next semester.

Probation: Any student who is deficient six or more grade points will be placed on CBA probation. Probationary business majors are required to consult with a professional advisor in the CBA Student Advising and Career Services Office (CBB 321B) before being allowed to register for classes. Together with the advisor, students should develop a plan of action which would potentially enable them to reduce their deficiency points and achieve satisfactory academic standing. Students on CBA probation must receive advisor approval from the CBA Advising and Student Services Office before registering for classes. The College of Business Administration reserves the right to restrict enrollment in CBA classes for any business major placed on CBA probation.

Registration Policies & Guide to Registration

The CBA maintains its own registration policies and procedures in addition to those published by the University. The CBA Guide to Registration explains the CBA registration rules, regulations, and procedures. The CBA Guide to Registration is published each semester and is made available through the CBA Student Advising and Career Services Office (CBB 321B) to all students registering for business classes. Any changes in CBA registration policies are published in the Guide to Registration. Students are, therefore, strongly advised to procure and read a copy of the Guide to Registration each semester to note changes in CBA registration procedures before registering for business classes. Students with questions regarding registration policies should go to the CBA Student Advising and Career Services Office (CBB 321B) for clarification.
