CBB 113
48 computer workstations. This room is exclusively scheduled for computer-intensive classes.

CBB 224
35 computer workstations. Students may use CBB 224 as an overflow lab during regular work hours when not in use for classes. The schedule is posted on the door.

Faculty: Click here for information regarding the reservation process of the computer classrooms.

B. Computer Labs

All of our computer labs utilize Windows workstations, network access, and network printing.

CBB 236
40 computer workstations, copy machine, color printer, and scanner station. Tutoring for Introduction to Information Systems (150:080) is provided to students by the lab monitor present. CBB 236 is open during the academic year (spring and fall semesters), lab hours begin Tuesday during the first week of classes, and end Thursday during finals week at 5pm. Open lab hours are posted on the door and here.

Attached to CBB 236 is the Information Systems Research Lab (ISRL). The ISRL is a computer lab containing 2 group workstations and 8 student stations. It is designed to support MIS student and faculty research or development projects needing specialized resources not available elsewhere on campus, while providing a favorable environment for MIS projects requiring group work. The ISRL also houses a collection of computer-related reference materials.

C. Classrooms

All regular CBA classrooms are equipped with a multimedia cabinet containing a Windows-based computer, DVD/VCR player, document camera, and a wireless presenter. All of the equipment is connected to a ceiling-mounted LCD projector. Sound for the computer and DVD/VCR player is transmitted through the projector.

Software installation on these machines can be arranged by contacting CBA Tech Support (See Software Resources in section 5 below). Before multimedia equipment can be used, training must be coordinated with CBA Tech Support. See our Classroom Cabinet Key Checkout page for details.

Iowa Communications Network (ICN) Room

CBB 122 is a fully equipped ICN room and can be reserved through ICN Scheduling (319-273-2122). The multimedia equipment in this room may require specialized training, which is offered through ITS Training (319-273-2309). CBB 122 functions as a "regular" classroom when not in ICN use.

D. Faculty Work Rooms

CBB 226
2 workstations and the second floor laser printer. This room is intended for faculty and graduate student employees doing CBA work assignments, and is not intended as an open lab for students.

CBB 326

4. Reservation and Checkout Procedure

A. Reserving Rooms

1. Please note that the CBA Tech Support only schedules CBB 113 and 224. To reserve any other classroom, contact the Scheduling office (319-273-2110); Conference rooms 323 and 319 are reserved through the CBA Dean's Office (319-273-6240) but technology equipment requests should be directed to CBA Tech Support.

2. CBA courses requiring computer use are given scheduling priority for CBB 113 and 224. CBA faculty should refer here for information on reserving a computer classroom on a regular basis. After the class schedule for the semester is established, the remaining free times in those computer facilities are available for classes or other university activities. Contact CBA Tech Support to reserve a time for your class. Room reservations will be processed in the order in which they were received.

B. Equipment Checkout

Equipment checkout is done in the CBA Tech Support office, CBB 216. For more information, see our Technology Equipment Checkout page.

5. Software Resources

The CBA provides general computer productivity software and applications installed in the labs and classrooms, as well as business orientated applications only found in CBB labs.

Faculty and students are able to purchase Microsoft software products for a discounted rate through the University's software agreement with Microsoft. This is a great opportunity to get the latest Microsoft software at a reduced price. Here is a list of the software available. It can be purchased from the Computer Consulting Center, located in Room 36 of the ITTC Building.

ITS also provides links to useful software that can be downloaded and used for free. It can be found here.

Faculty: Click here for more information regarding software resources used in the CBA.

6. Network Storage

A "public" folder on the network, L:\LABTEMP, can be used to store presentations or large files temporarily. The contents of this folder are deleted weekly on Friday afternoons so be sure you are finished or have copied your files by the end of the week. Remember: The folder is open to the public so your files should have a unique, identifiable name. Security is not guaranteed.
