Classroom Cabinet Key Checkout

A brief training is required of anyone who will be using the multimedia equipment in the Curris Business Building classrooms. For students, training will usually occur in classes, but if individual training is needed, please contact CBA Tech Support (CBB 216; 319-273-7969; cbatech@uni.edu) to arrange training time in advance.

After your training, cabinet keys to the multimedia equipment in the Curris Business Building can be checked out in CBB 216 with a photo ID during normal business hours (8am-5pm). During academic breaks and summer session, the office is not fully staffed so check out arrangements should be made well ahead of time.

Each summer we remove approved users from the database if they have not checked out a key within the previous year, regardless of when their training took place. Therefore, if you have never checked out a key or if considerable time has passed since your last checkout, you will need to go through a brief, training update.

Late/Lost Keys
Keys returned late, but within one week of the due date, will incur a late fee of $1 per class day overdue. The late fee will be waived for the first day of the first overdue return. After the second incident of failing to return a key by the due date, check out privileges may be revoked. Keys that are not returned by one week past their due date will be considered non-returned. A re-keying fee of $25 may be imposed for any non-returned keys.

Eligible Users
Groups eligible to check out keys, and guidelines for each, are described below. Please note: Semester-long check out of keys is impermissible except for faculty.
  1. Faculty: All Faculty members teaching in the CBB will be issued keys to the equipment after completing a brief, required training. Each faculty member will be issued only one key. No charge will be imposed unless the key is not returned. Adjuncts and non-CBA faculty will be asked to return the keys at the end of each semester.

  2. Students taking classes in the CBB will be allowed to checkout keys with a photo ID. After completing the required training, keys may be checked out for a maximum of two business days. No charge will be imposed unless the key is not returned by the due date. Keys that are not yet overdue may be renewed for an additional two business days EXCEPT during the three weeks prior to final exams. Students not enrolled in CBA classes may obtain keys, but preference will be given to CBA students.

  3. Conferences: When multimedia access is requested by a non-UNI group, a fee of $50 per half day will be charged.
